Michael is a founding member of the Stratus team and brings a wealth of experience from working across the world with a broad business understanding from his background in Economics.

Michael has worked in Management & Senior Management roles for companies such as PKF Chartered Accountants, Solution6 and Cayman Distributors, as well as for organisations such as EuroDisney, Medical Windows Australia and Barclays Finance.

Michael adores indoor beach volleyball and underwater hockey, supports the Fremantle Dockers (aka glutton for punishment), stays awake for the Ashes and is a proud Dad to four boys.

Michael initially started managing Exo’s previous incarnation (Exonet) in his role at PKF Accounting before setting up Horizon Business Systems in 2005 which now services over 250 clients across Western Australia, Australia and internationally.

Michael’s experience spans many areas and industries and over the years he has worked in both sales and business analysis roles in industries such as:

  • Wholesale Distribution
  • Professional Services
  • Consulting
  • Accounting Practice

Michael loves the challenge of working with new clients and helping to solve complex business issues.  Michael believes that one of the team’s most important skills is that we don’t walk into a business with the idea that we already KNOW how they work.

“Of course we want them to be compliant – just to limit that particular pain! – but we also understand that the companies that are our clients have built themselves from small businesses into successful companies, so they’ve done a lot of things right to get themselves to this point.   These are businesses that just need our input to streamline things and help them get to the next level.” says Michael. “Every client relationship that we build also adds to our own skill set as we learn something new from each business. A lot of consultancy businesses out there will go into companies with the view that they will just replicate what they did last week at another business, rather than take the time to understand and respect the way that you do business. We genuinely feel invested in each and every one of our clients – most likely because we are a local business too!”
